Sex and the Taliban: It’s all Good

A tall man with paper bag brown skin and curly black hair, diverts his eyes from me as he searches my bag at the security check point. He says in a slow sensuous voice, “You have liquids, but I don’t mind, it’s all good.” He slowly hands my bag back to me and I notice that he is blushing as he winks at me.

I am totally confused as I run to catch the plane
. As usual, I had waited until the 11th hour to pack and underestimating the time that it takes to pack the small things, I ended up packing in the taxi on the way to the airport.

The security alert is at level orange. It has been at orange forever now. I swear it is a conspiracy, so you have to buy those little plastic bags to put your liquids in. At least now, you could bring your liquids on. I remember one poor woman had to throw away all of her lotions and personal care products that she took on in her carry on luggage. Yet, I was sure that I had packed all of my lotions and liquid based products in my checked luggage.

Once I got on the plane and found my seat, I opened my carry on bag, searched around at the bottom of it and pulled out a bottle of personal lubrication called organic passion.  I am mortified and blurt out “Oh my God!” My mind races back to security, I remember the diverted eyes and the red tones in his skin. He had said, “I don’t mind, it’s all good .” I crack up laughing, holding my stomach and I am hysterical with tears running down my face to the alarm of my seat mates. Talk about the side effects of war!

What does the Taliban have to do with my sex life? I guess if you were to ask some of my old lovers, some might say that I was a terrorist. However, in that moment, I wasn’t a terrorist. No, in that moment, the alert was winked away, because it’s all good. Yes in that moment, the orange in the alert merged into a sunset that would not interfere with the way of the night. Love always defeats war, every time.
